The organization of commemorative activities aims to affirm the position, great stature, and enormous historical value of the August Revolution and the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, in the nation's history of struggle for independence and defense under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
At the same time, the effort aims to foster revolutionary ideals, patriotic traditions, national pride, and the spirit of great unity. It underscores the moral principle of "When drinking water, remember the source," honors the generations who sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom, and reunification, and inspires a renewed spirit of heroism, self-reliance, resilience, and the collective aspiration for a prosperous, happy nation.
It affirms the determination of the entire Party, people, and military to successfully implement the national renewal process initiated and led by the Party and firmly defend the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; to consolidate and enhance trust in the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam; and to build confidence in the Party's vision as it adopts breakthrough policies to lead the nation into a new era.
Commemorative Activities
Activities assigned by the Central Government for Hanoi to take the lead in organizing: Holding the Ceremony of Commemoration, military parade, and mass procession to mark the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Hanoi, in coordination with Central Party bodies, ministries, and national agencies, is set to organize a series of major activities to mark the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Key events include paying tribute at the Mausoleum of President Ho Chi Minh; offering incense and flowers in remembrance of heroic martyrs at the Bac Son Monument and Mai Dich Cemetery; and hosting a national-level scientific seminar alongside the design of the official logo and visual identity for the anniversary.
Other highlights include an exhibition showcasing socio-economic achievements, a conference honoring veteran revolutionaries and outstanding families benefiting from social policies in the North, and a range of cultural, artistic, and sports programs. A live television broadcast will cover the main commemoration ceremony, while propaganda posters and promotional materials will support public engagement. The celebration will also feature an exhibition of large-format lacquer paintings titled Spring of Independence, capturing the spirit of national pride and resilience.
The Hanoi People's Committee has tasked the Department of Culture and Sports with serving as the lead agency in coordinating the organization of the 80th anniversary celebrations. The department will work closely with other departments, boards, sectors, mass organizations, as well as district- and commune-level People's Committees, to develop and implement the overall Plan.
Its responsibilities include advising the Hanoi People's Committee on the issuance of the official Plan for the commemoration ceremony, military parade, and mass procession; establishing the main Organizing Committee and subcommittees; and ensuring logistical and technical conditions for preliminary reviews, rehearsals, and the official ceremony.
In addition, the department will coordinate with relevant agencies to direct press outlets and broadcasters in crafting a communication strategy aimed at boosting media coverage before, during, and after the events. It will also devise a plan for mobilizing public forces and clearly assign responsibilities for management and implementation across all participating units.
The Hanoi People's Committee requires that all commemorative activities meet the goals and requirements set by the Central Government; be organized in diverse, rich, solemn, economical, efficient, and practical forms, with focus and key points suitable to the actual needs of the city and localities; and be associated with the commemoration of other major national and Capital holidays.
The committee calls for the continued, synchronous, and effective implementation of solutions to promote the study and practice of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style; patriotic emulation movements; and the determined effort to overcome difficulties and challenges, seize opportunities and advantages, and accomplish the tasks and plans for 2025 and the following years.
