Accordingly, the city approved the policy to waive fares for subsidized public passenger transport services (buses and urban railways) for residents and visitors during the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 – September 2, 2025).
The fare exemption will be applied from August 30, 2025, until the end of September 2, 2025.
The municipal People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to lead, direct, and coordinate with the Hanoi Public Transport Management and Operation Center, bus service providers under the subsidy scheme, and Hanoi Railway Company Limited to implement operational plans.
These plans must ensure safety, meaningful implementation, and efficiency, while serving the travel needs of residents and visitors effectively.
The agencies must also monitor passenger volumes, promptly adjust and increase service frequency, trips, and operating hours if travel demand rises.
They must establish strict control measures and take full responsibility for the accuracy of the number of free tickets to ensure proper financial settlement of subsidies in compliance with regulations.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance, based on its assigned functions and responsibilities, to consolidate and propose the funding sources for the subsidy scheme and report to the competent authorities for approval.
The Hanoi People's Committee also assigned the Departments of Culture and Sports, Tourism, and Science and Technology, as well as the People's Committees of wards and communes, to enhance communication and information dissemination.
This includes publicizing plans on traffic flow, parking locations, bus operation plans, and the public transport network connecting to tourist attractions and events of the capital city, so that a wide range of residents and visitors are informed and can participate.
